Working collaboratively with individuals, businesses, government and other service providers, St. Patrick Center will end chronic homelessness in the St. Louis region through Housing First, an evidence-based practice that tells us to remove barriers, do intake and assessment early, move people into housing and offer them support to achieve their goals.
Job Summary
St. Patrick Center, a ministry of Catholic Charities, is hiring for the Engagement Staff position at our off-site location at Rosati Place. We are looking for candidates with exceptional interpersonal skills for the engagement staff position. The Engagement Staff member will assist in implementing the daily care of all clients/residents in compliance with treatment and program goals, direct phone calls in a timely and professional manner and perform clinical duties as assigned. This is a PRN position and will be scheduled as needed and is ineligible for benefits. The hourly range is between $15 and $20
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain positive relationship with each client
- Familiar with each client’s diagnosis, medications, and history, to assist in implementation of each client’s treatment goals
- Assist in creating a comfortable atmosphere for clients
- Treat each client with respect, keeping good professional boundaries
- Report client behavioral/physical changes, problems, and/ or concerns to case manager and respond/intervene as needed in therapeutic manner
- Complete all daily documentation of each intervention with clients on up to 15 individuals daily/shift
- Prepare, serve, and properly store meals meeting licensure standards, if applicable
- Retrieve and distribute incoming mail as needed to clients
- Distribute medication to clients each shift utilizing EMAR system
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation as applicable
- Communicate regularly with supervisor for performance and feedback
- Complete all front desk admin tasks as applicable
- Complete all documentation of client observation, and other binders at front desk
- Greet incoming calls and delegate as needed • Perform all miscellaneous tasks as required or requested by Supervisor, Case Manager, and/or management
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience with mental health/substance use disorder required
- Understand and practice client confidentiality
- Understand and practice client/staff boundaries
- Ability to coach clients in an educational manner toward treatment goals
- Ability to complete appropriate documentation within licensure and facility standards
- Participate in interdisciplinary or multi-interdisciplinary team approach
- Knowledge of Housing First philosophy
- Knowledge of mental health and co-occurring diagnoses
Skills Required for Success in Job
- Basic Microsoft Office skills, required (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- First aid training and CPR required (ability to obtain after hire)
- Current TB test within 30 days of hire required
- Ability to remain stationary for extended period
- Ability to see within normal parameters, view monitors, and listen for disturbances
- Ability to handle physical movement and tasks as required
- Excellent communication skills
- Flexible and open to change

- Associates degree preferred
