Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining records for general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, accounts payable, other accounts and current financial information on all funds.  Receives little direct supervision and only general oversight from Pastor, Administrator, Principal or Business manager.  May utilize accounting computer program to process and keep records.  Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent, plus bookkeeping experience.

Job Responsibilities

•    Provides bookkeeping for the parish and elementary school.
•    Maintains all parish accounting records on current Archdiocesan recommended software.
•    Maintains subsidiary records of tuition, and related fees.  Prepares bi-monthly statements, email reminders, and initiates collection activities.
•    Creates invoices for payment.
•    Initiates all bank transfers and related activities, including SLAF accounts.  Reconciles all parish accounts.
•    Reviews monthly statements and prepares related status reports.
•    Prepares monthly financial statements for Finance Council, with additional reports as needed.
•    Coordinates development of parish and school budgets.
•    Liaison for parish organizations’ financial activities.
•    Prepares reports and spreadsheets.
•    Enters weekly contribution deposits, tuition payments, & other donations
•    Responsible for annual tax forms, annual payment history for parents needed for tax purposes.
•    Responsible for tax forms associated with raffle winners in accordance with state & federal laws.
•    Manages TTEF scholarship website.
•    Records payroll payments.
 

Job Requirements

•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
•    Three to five years’ experience in bookkeeping
•    Previous experience in QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
•    Previous training or applicable experience 
•    Previous experience in Servant Keeper and Parish Helper desirable
•    Skilled in using personal computers, including email and internet
•    General knowledge and support of the Catholic Church, Catholic sacraments, Catholic rites and liturgies
•    Must have organizational skills
•    Must have ability to meet deadline
•    Must have ability to maintain confidentiality
•    Must be able to work with Pastor, Business Manager and Parish Council
•    Must be able to work with employees on payroll and benefits issues
•    Accountable for Parish funds
•    Must meet deadlines for payroll taxes, tax and other reporting and bill payment to avoid significant financial penalties
