Job Summary
A Catholic Classroom Aide supports the classroom teacher in creating a Christ-centered, academically excellent learning environment that fosters the spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional growth of each student. The instructional aid will assist in implementing lesson plans, providing individualized support to students, and maintaining a classroom atmosphere aligned with the mission and vision of the school, as outlined by the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS).
Job Responsibilities

Assist the classroom teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and instructional activities.

Provide academic support to individual students or small groups, reinforcing instruction and helping with assignments as directed.

Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, hallways, lunch, recess, and during arrival/dismissal times.

Help maintain an organized, clean, and safe learning environment.

Assist with classroom management by reinforcing rules and expectations in a positive and respectful manner.

Prepare materials and resources for instructional use, including copying, organizing, and distributing materials.

Support students’ social and emotional development by promoting positive behavior and respectful interactions.

Communicate effectively and professionally with students, staff, and parents under the guidance of the teacher and school leadership.

Maintain student confidentiality and uphold the mission and values of St. Peter Catholic School and the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Participate in required professional development and Archdiocesan Safe Environment Training.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in education or a related field preferred.
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
- Familiarity with Catholic teachings and a commitment to faith-based education.
- Experience working with children in an educational or similar setting preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic proficiency in using educational technology and tools.
