Job Summary
POSITION SUMMARY
Functions as the Activities Coordinator at Mary, Queen and Mother Center, assisting the Activity Director in implementing the activities program and helping residents participate in planned activities.
Shift Availability
This is for part-time day/evenings with some weekends required
Pay Range
$18.00-22.00/hour
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Encourage and assist residents in activities, including room activities for those unable to attend.
- Assist with evening and weekend programs.
- Perform routine duties: clerical work, maintaining bulletin boards, posting signs/calendars, running errands, etc.
- Attend staff meetings, educational programs, and in-service training.
- Assist staff with supplies for Resident Centered Care Activities.
- Communicate task status and resident/family needs with facility personnel.
- Cooperate with other facility departments (nursing, therapy, social services, dietary services, etc.).
- Perform tasks as per policies and procedures.
- Support and uphold all regulations and facility policies.
- Continue education to maintain skill level.
- Complete tasks as assigned and communicate concerns to the supervisor.
- Use safety techniques and infection control guidelines.
- Use resident and facility supplies/property effectively.
- Cooperate with other employees to meet residents’ needs.
- Communicate with the Activity Director about the activity program.
- Encourage resident participation in activities.
- Deliver activity programs, including 1:1 sensory visits, weekend bingo, and special programs.
- Deliver newspapers and mail, assist residents with mail.
- Evaluate resident response to activities and communicate with the Activity Director.
- Document resident participation in activities.
- Assist with new resident assessments and orientation to the activity program.
- Assist with planned activities, including preparation and serving refreshments.
- Maintain accurate records of residents’ dietary limitations.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks.
- Document resident participation and perform monthly charting, progress notes, and assessments.
- Guide volunteers.
- Transport residents as necessary.
- Make morning announcements.
- Care for facility pets.
- Assist with stocking and maintaining the Gift Shop.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school graduate.
- Completed/eligible for an Activity Professionals Course.
- Certified Nursing Assistant licensure is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical and sensory aspects of the position.
- Previous experience with senior adults and knowledge of their psychosocial needs.
- Experience with crafts, games, and social programs for senior adults.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Mature attitude and ability to work cooperatively.
