The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

The Director will lead the development and implementation of the vision and goals for the Office of CYC Sports to better serve our mission. The Director is ultimately responsible for all activities of the Office of CYC Sports.  The Director will serve as primary representative to the Catholic sports community.  The Director will review and approve plans for all sports events associated with CYC sports in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.  The Director will prepare budgets for submission to the Vicar for final approval.  The Director will oversee the work of the Region/Parish chairpersons and any other volunteer committees associated with the Archdiocesan athletic programs and report all activities to the Vicar.  The Director will set the direction and strategy of the Office of CYC Sports.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all the activities of the Office of CYC Sports while maintaining the mission of CYC Sports.  The Director will set the direction and strategy of CYC Sports in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. This person is responsible for financial planning of the Office of CYC Sports and managing the office within a specific budget.  The Director will oversee and manage a team of staff, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure effective performance and alignment with organizational goals.Manages the logistical aspects of certain major Office of CYC Sports events. This includes but is not limited to initial planning, budget development, execution, and management and tracking for assigned events. Helps oversee large youth sports program with eight sports and over 35,000 participants.Train coaches to integrate faith and athletics through Play Like A Champion program.
  • The Director will regularly visit parishes and attend regional sports meetings to provide support and guidance to parish athletic associations and volunteers. Through relational ministry, the Director will foster strong connections and ensure alignment with the mission and values of the organization.

Job Requirements

  • Strong background in athletics, is a must. Basic rules knowledge of the sports that we offer. Previous event-management/coordination experience is needed. Familiarity with sports scheduling software is essential. Must possess strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and basic PC and website management. High level administrative/organizational skills are required.
  • Strategic planning experience is helpful.  Previous experience in sports and an extensive knowledge of volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, chess, and track.  It is highly desirable that the Director be a practicing Catholic. Must be comfortable in developing relationships with a wide variety of people.  Must be comfortable delegating tasks and responsibilities without giving up ultimate responsibility for the results..Must be able to multi-task while maintaining a focus on details. Must be able to handle occasional times of long hours/high pressure leading up to and during events. Local travel will be required for certain events.
