Job Summary
Immacolata is seeking an organist/pianist for playing Masses on our Saturday evening 5:00 Mass. This person should have experience in liturgical music and working with cantors. The position should be expected to play every Saturday except for the Easter Vigil, and find their own sub if they are for some reason unavailable. Stipend is $150 per service.
Job Responsibilities
Liturgical Music Leadership

Provide organ or piano music for the Saturday evening Mass, including prelude, hymns, Mass parts, psalm accompaniment, and postlude.

Accompany the cantor and/or ensemble as needed with attentiveness to balance, tempo, and expression.

Support full and active participation of the assembly through confident and prayerful musical leadership.
Preparation & Collaboration

Rehearse and prepare all music prior to the liturgy.

Coordinate with the Music Director and clergy to select appropriate music that aligns with the readings, liturgical season, and parish guidelines.

Attend any required rehearsals with cantors or instrumentalists before the Saturday liturgy.
Professionalism & Musical Excellence

Demonstrate reliability by arriving early to prepare the instrument, music, and liturgical space.

Adjust performance style and pacing to the flow of the liturgy.

Handle musical transitions smoothly and discreetly during the Mass.

Maintain a professional, prayerful presence and interact respectfully with parish staff, volunteers, and parishioners.
Job Requirements

Proficiency in organ and/or piano performance with strong technical ability.

Ability to read sheet music confidently and accompany vocalists and instrumentalists.

Familiarity with Catholic liturgical music, hymns, and the structure of the Mass.

Strong sense of timing, expression, and sensitivity to the liturgical environment.

Reliable, punctual, and committed to serving the parish worship community.

Prior experience playing for liturgical services preferred.
