Job Summary

Seven Holy Founders is seeking a faith-filled and dependable 2nd Grade Assistant Catechist to support the religious formation of students in alignment with the teachings and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. Working under the direction of the lead catechist or religion teacher, the Assistant Catechist helps guide students in their understanding of the faith, preparation for the Sacraments, and daily Christian living.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the lead catechist in preparing and delivering religious education lessons for 3rd grade students.

  • Assist with classroom management to ensure a respectful and prayerful learning environment.

  • Help lead prayer, Scripture readings, and faith-based discussions.

  • Provide individual or small group support to students during religious instruction and sacramental preparation (such as First Reconciliation and First Eucharist review, depending on the diocese's schedule).

  • Prepare and organize classroom materials, visuals, or craft activities related to the curriculum.

  • Help model and encourage Catholic virtues, respectful behavior, and active participation in the faith.

  • Accompany and assist students during school liturgies, prayer services, or religious celebrations.

  • Attend catechist meetings or training sessions as required by the school or parish.

  • Uphold and support the mission of Catholic education and the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Job Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church

  • Willingness to support and model the teachings of the Catholic faith

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, catechists, students, and parents

  • Completion (or willingness to complete) Safe Environment training and background check, per diocesan requirements
