Job Summary

The Junior Kindergarten Aide supports the lead teacher in creating a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment for children ages 4–5. The aide assists with classroom activities, supervision, behavior management, and day-to-day routines to ensure each child’s developmental, social, emotional, and academic growth.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities.

  • Supervise students in the classroom, on the playground, during meals, and transitions.

  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly classroom environment.

  • Support children in developing appropriate social behavior and independence.

  • Assist with preparing materials and supplies for lessons and activities.

  • Observe and report student behavior, progress, or concerns to the lead teacher.

  • Assist with toileting, dressing, and hygiene as needed, following school policies.

  • Maintain a respectful, professional, and caring relationship with students, families, and staff.

  • Follow all school policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience working with young children in a school or childcare setting is highly desirable.

  • Patience, flexibility, a love of children, and strong communication skills.

  • Ability to follow direction and work collaboratively with a team.
