Custodian

Job Summary

The Custodian at St. Joachim Catholic Church and School is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, parishioners, and visitors. This position supports the daily operations of both the church and school by performing routine cleaning, room setup, and basic facility care to ensure all spaces are well maintained for worship, learning, and community events.

Job Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including restocking supplies as needed.

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors in classrooms, offices, hallways, worship spaces, and common areas.

• Clean windows, glass surfaces, and other high-touch areas.

• Empty trash and recycling and dispose of waste properly.

• Maintain a regular cleaning schedule to ensure all areas are consistently clean and orderly.

• Set up and break down rooms for school activities, church services, meetings, and parish events as needed.

• Assist with seasonal, deep-cleaning, or special projects as assigned.

• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or supply needs to the Facilities Director or administrator.

• Follow all safety, cleaning, and health protocols.

• Maintain a respectful, professional presence and support the mission and values of St. Joachim Catholic Church and School.

Job Requirements

• Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.

• Knowledge of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.

• Ability to work independently and follow cleaning schedules.

• Strong attention to detail and reliability.

• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and staff.

• Willingness to work in a church and school environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 25 pounds.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.

• Ability to work indoors and occasionally outdoors as needed.
