Job Summary

Incarnate Word, a Catholic school dedicated to fostering academic excellence and spiritual growth, is seeking a compassionate and skilled School Counselor. The counselor provides social-emotional support, guidance, and counseling services to students, while promoting their overall well-being in a faith-centered environment. The role supports the school’s mission by nurturing the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—and collaborating with families, faculty, and administration.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and spiritual concerns.

  • Support students in developing self-awareness, coping skills, and positive decision-making aligned with Catholic values.

  • Assist in crisis intervention and conflict resolution when needed.

  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to identify and address student needs.

  • Coordinate and implement programs that promote social skills, character development, bullying prevention, and mental health awareness.

  • Facilitate referrals to outside professionals or community resources when necessary.

  • Maintain confidential records of counseling sessions and communications, adhering to ethical standards.

  • Participate in school liturgies, retreats, and faith formation activities, integrating Catholic teachings into counseling practices.

  • Contribute to the development of a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment.

  • Stay current with counseling best practices, attending professional development opportunities.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field (required).

  • Valid state counseling certification or licensure.

  • Experience working with children or adolescents in educational settings preferred.

  • Strong understanding of child development, mental health issues, and counseling techniques.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.

  • Practicing Catholic preferred, or willing to support the Catholic mission and values of the school.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
