Job Summary
Seeking faith-filled and dedicated individuals to serve as PSR Teachers (Catechists) for our Parish School of Religion. PSR Teachers play a vital role in handing on the Catholic faith to children in grades [Insert Grades, e.g., 1–8] who are not enrolled in Catholic schools. This role involves teaching weekly religion classes, helping students grow in their relationship with Christ, and preparing them for sacraments in accordance with Church teaching.
Job Responsibilities

Prepare and teach weekly religion classes using approved parish curriculum and resources

Foster a welcoming, prayerful, and engaging learning environment rooted in Catholic values

Integrate Scripture, prayer, Church tradition, and doctrine into each lesson

Collaborate with other catechists and the Director of Religious Education to ensure program consistency

Maintain accurate attendance and student progress records

Communicate regularly with parents about class content and upcoming events

Participate in required training sessions, catechist formation, and parish events

Support sacramental preparation as needed (e.g., First Reconciliation, First Communion, Confirmation)

Serve as a witness to the Catholic faith through example and personal integrity
Job Requirements

Practicing Catholic in good standing with a love for the faith and a desire to share it

Basic understanding of Catholic doctrine and willingness to continue learning

Experience working with children or youth preferred, but not required

Strong communication and organizational skills

Completion of diocesan Safe Environment training (or willingness to complete before starting)

Catechist certification or willingness to begin formation as required by the diocese
