Job Summary

St. Vincent DePaul Parish and School seeks qualified candidates for the position of Facilities Manager. The Facilities Manager oversees and is responsible for the effective, efficient, secure and safe maintenance, repair, renovation and upkeep of the parish buildings and grounds. The Facilities Manager reports to the Pastor and will supervise contractors, and volunteers to ensure the parish facilities are functional, clean, secure, and safe at all times.  

Job Responsibilities

  1. Inspect buildings and grounds daily for repairs and clean-up needs to ensure everything is in good condition and safe for all individuals on the property.

  2. Responsible for all aspects of plant operations within the facility, including managing and maintaining electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, general maintenance, housekeeping, and grounds upkeep to ensure proper functioning and appearance.

  3. Perform hands-on maintenance, project work, and special custodial tasks as required, addressing any maintenance or cleaning needs in a timely manner to ensure the facility remains in top condition.

  4. Solicit and analyze proposals from contractors to perform necessary repairs or maintenance work. Ensure that proposals align with budgetary constraints and facility needs.

  5. Maintain and update the long-term Capital Maintenance Plan in collaboration with the Pastor, setting priorities and timelines for major repairs, replacements, and other long-term projects.

  6. Maintain open channels of communication with parish and school staff to ensure that their maintenance and operational needs are met promptly and effectively.

  7. Keep time and material records for all work orders to track resources and labor used in facility maintenance, ensuring accurate documentation for reporting and budget purposes.

  8. Assist in overseeing and escorting outside contractors, ensuring that contractors adhere to all safety protocols and project requirements while on site.

  9. Maintain equipment for snow removal and lawn maintenance, ensuring all equipment is ready for use during necessary seasons and properly maintained.

  10. Keep walkways and drives clear of debris and obstructions, including snow removal, de-icing, and ensuring the safety of paths and roads around the facility.

  11. Clean and service HVAC units regularly, inspecting and cleaning filters to maintain efficient operation and a comfortable environment throughout the facility.

  12. Respond to management requests, addressing facility-related safety, security, and operational issues as they arise to ensure smooth and effective operations.

  13. Respond immediately to emergencies, providing prompt assistance in urgent situations to maintain safety and prevent further damage or issues.

  14. Keep maintenance areas clean and organized, ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are properly stored and accessible to maximize efficiency and safety.

  15. Maintain an ongoing parts and equipment inventory, ensuring the proper availability of tools, materials, and supplies for regular maintenance and unforeseen needs.

  16. Perform other duties as assigned, including tasks that support the overall facility management and ensure the space remains functional, safe, and well-maintained.

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Experience in skilled trades (plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC); minimum 3-5 years.
  2. Knowledge of general maintenance methods, operating requirements, and safety precautions related to facilities management.
  3. Must be a well-organized, detail-oriented, and customer (internal and external) focused self-starter.

SKILLS & ATTITUDES REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS

  1. Respect and support the mission of the Catholic Church.
  2. Demonstrate appreciation of the significance of this Catholic facility.
  3. Work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize daily tasks to meet the needs of the facility.
  4. Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, reach overhead, lift 50lbs, and climb ladders to a height of 20 feet.
  5. Must be willing to work as a team member and demonstrate willingness to take direction from supervisor.
  6. Ability to obtain a refrigerant recovery certification.
