Job Summary
St Joseph Catholic Church, Cottleville a Catholic school, is seeking a qualified and passionate Reading and Language Arts Teacher for 6th and 7th grades. The ideal candidate will foster students' critical thinking, reading comprehension, grammar, writing, and communication skills, while integrating faith and values into the curriculum. This teacher will be committed to academic excellence and to the spiritual and moral development of young adolescents.
Job Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons aligned with school curriculum and standards in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and literature.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

Incorporate Catholic teachings, values, and worldview into lessons and classroom discussions when appropriate.

Create and maintain a positive, disciplined, and respectful classroom environment that supports student learning and development.

Evaluate student performance through assignments, assessments, projects, and class participation.

Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.

Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular planning, student support, and school-wide initiatives.

Maintain communication with parents through conferences, emails, and progress reports.

Participate in school liturgies, retreats, and other Catholic faith experiences.

Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (required); Master’s degree (preferred).

Valid teaching certificate or willingness to work toward certification.

Minimum of 1–2 years of teaching experience, preferably in a middle school setting.

Practicing Catholic preferred; commitment to Catholic education and values required.

Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.

Proficiency with educational technology and digital literacy tools.
