Job Summary
The Accountant will work closely with the Business Manager and Senior Accountant in the processing of daily accounting transactions related to the role. Primary focus of the role includes handling the day-to-day tasks for accounts payable including vendor management and general cash disbursements, recording credit card transactions and maintaining receipts, and preparing the monthly bank account reconciliations. A key qualification is an attitude toward improving processes to enhance internal control and efficiency. In addition to these tasks, this individual will perform certain tasks in Excel, Word and QuickBooks as directed by the Business Manager.
Job Responsibilities

Manage weekly accounts payable and vendor payments in QuickBooks; ensure accuracy and efficiency

Maintain vendor records and coordinate payment approvals with the Business Manager

Prepare monthly AP Aging and record Archdiocesan assessments and purchases

Support month-end close, including journal entries, credit card reconciliations, and bank account reconciliations

Generate monthly and year-to-date fund balance reports; support ad hoc reporting and analysis

Assist in preparing annual parish, school, and ministry budgets

Collaborate with Business Manager, staff, and clergy to support financial operations and parish mission
Job Requirements
Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church or possessing a deep understanding of and respect for Catholic teachings.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
· Minimum of 2 years of experience.
· Professional Awareness of necessary internal controls in the routine execution of the role for the safeguarding of all assets, especially related to cash management
· Strong organizational and communication skills.
· Creative and technology-driven; efficiency oriented and eager to learn new methods and processes to enhance the operations of the parish office
· Proficiency in using QuickBooks and all Microsoft Suite products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, parish staff, and parish volunteers with a mission driven spirit.
