Job Summary

The Director of Faith Formation is a full-time, salaried position responsible for overseeing and coordinating the religious and spiritual formation of children, youth, and adults at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Cottleville. This role provides leadership for parish-wide faith formation initiatives that support lifelong discipleship, sacramental preparation, and family faith life in alignment with the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church. The Director of Faith Formation collaborates with clergy, parish staff, and volunteers to develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive faith formation programs. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, supporting, and evaluating catechists; selecting curriculum and resources for faith formation programs across all age groups; and directing sacramental preparation programs, including Christian Initiation. The Director fosters a welcoming, organized, and faith-filled environment that encourages spiritual growth and active participation in parish life.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction for parish-wide faith formation for children, youth, and adults
• Oversee religious education, youth ministry, adult faith formation, and sacramental preparation programs
• Recruit, train, support, and supervise catechists and volunteers
• Select and evaluate faith formation curriculum and resources in accordance with Catholic teaching and diocesan guidelines
• Collaborate with clergy, parish staff, and ministry leaders to plan and implement faith formation initiatives
• Foster family engagement and participation in parish life through faith formation programs
• Ensure safe environment compliance and proper supervision across all programs

Job Requirements

• Practicing Catholic in good standing
• Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree in theology, pastoral ministry, or a related field preferred
• Experience in faith formation, ministry leadership, education, or program management
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to lead, support, and collaborate with volunteers and staff
• Self-motivated, flexible, and able to manage multiple responsibilities
