Job Summary

The Pastoral Associate serves as a key member of the parish staff, supporting the pastor in the pastoral care, evangelization, and mission of St. Joseph Parish. This role involves coordinating parish-wide initiatives (including our partnership with Communio), fostering collaboration among parish ministries, and engaging parishioners in service and discipleship. The Pastoral Associate helps ensure that the life of the parish is vibrant, welcoming, and mission-driven.

Job Responsibilities

Communion Partnership 

  • Coordinate parish engagement with Communio, helping to plan, implement, and evaluate initiatives that strengthen marriage, family life, and evangelization. 
  • Act as the primary liaison between St. Joseph Parish and Communio representatives. 

Parish Ministries 

  • Serve as a liaison to parish ministries, fostering communication and collaboration.
  • Support ministry leaders with training, resources, and guidance as needed.
  • Help ensure ministries are aligned with the parish’s mission and vision. 

Volunteer Coordination 

  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers for parish events and initiatives.
  • Organize schedules, teams, and communication for volunteers in collaboration with staff and ministry leaders. 

Event & Program Support 

  • Assist in the planning and execution of parish-wide events, retreats, and programs.
  • Collaborate with staff to promote events and encourage parishioner participation. 

Pastoral Support 

  • Support the pastor in fostering a culture of hospitality, discipleship, and outreach.
  • Assist with parish communication efforts as needed (bulletin, website, social media, etc.).
  • Be present at parish liturgies, programs, and events to provide support and build relationships with parishioners. 

Job Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing who embraces and models the teachings of the Church.
  • Previous experience in parish ministry, volunteer coordination, or related leadership role.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as parish life requires.
