Job Summary
A Substitute Teacher is responsible for teaching and supervising students in the absence of the regular teacher. They must follow lesson plans, manage classroom behavior, and ensure the safety and well-being of students. The substitute teacher helps maintain continuity in the educational process and may work across various grade levels and subject areas.
Job Responsibilities
- implement lesson plans provided by the teacher
- supervise students and ensure a safe learning environment
- manage classroom behavior
- communicate with the regular teacher about the day's events
- no need to grade papers or plan lessons
Job Requirements
- Education: High school diploma required; a Bachelor's degree in education or a related field preferred.
- Licensing/Certification: A teaching certification or substitute teacher permit may be required.
- Experience: Prior teaching or classroom experience preferred but not always required.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in different educational settings.
- Basic understanding of classroom technology and instructional tools.

Work is generally conducted within the classroom during regular school hours.
