Job Summary

A Catholic Classroom Aide supports the classroom teacher in creating a Christ-centered, academically excellent learning environment that fosters the spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional growth of each student. The instructional aid will assist in implementing lesson plans, providing individualized support to students, and maintaining a classroom atmosphere aligned with the mission and vision of the school, as outlined by the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS).

Job Responsibilities

Faith Integration & Catholic Identity

  • Model and promote Catholic values in daily interactions and classroom support.

  • Assist in creating a respectful, inclusive, and faith-based learning environment.

  • Participate in liturgies, prayer services, and religious celebrations.

Instructional & Classroom Support

  • Collaborate with the teacher to implement lesson plans and learning activities.

  • Provide one-on-one or small-group academic support.

  • Prepare materials, support technology use, and help maintain classroom organization.

  • Assist with classroom routines, behavior management, and student transitions.

Student Development

  • Foster positive relationships to support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.

  • Monitor behavior and help maintain a Christ-centered environment.

  • Assist with tracking student progress and communicating observations to the teacher.

Community Engagement

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with students, families, and staff.

  • Participate in school events and service projects reflecting Catholic values.

  • Serve as a positive role model of faith, service, and integrity.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in education or a related field preferred.
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
  • Familiarity with Catholic teachings and a commitment to faith-based education.
  • Experience working with children in an educational or similar setting preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic proficiency in using educational technology and tools.
