School Nurse - Substitute

Job Summary

St Peter Catholic Church, Kirkwood a Catholic elementary and/or middle school, is seeking a qualified and compassionate Substitute School Nurse to provide health care services in the absence of the regular school nurse. The substitute nurse ensures the health and well-being of students and staff by responding to health concerns, administering medications, and maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment in alignment with Catholic values. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to students and staff who become ill or injured during the school day.

  • Administer medications and treatments according to school policies and individual health care plans.

  • Document all visits, medications administered, and incidents accurately and confidentially.

  • Communicate with parents/guardians as needed regarding student health concerns.

  • Monitor students with chronic medical conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies) and respond to health emergencies.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe health office environment.

  • Uphold and support the Catholic identity and mission of the school while providing compassionate, respectful care.

  • Collaborate with school staff to support the physical and emotional well-being of students.

Job Requirements

  • Current and valid RN or LPN license in [State]

  • CPR and First Aid certification

  • Strong communication, organization, and record-keeping skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all health-related matters

  • Completion of diocesan Safe Environment training and background check
