Job Summary
The Coordinator of Hispanic Ministry oversees and supports all areas of Hispanic ministry at St. Joseph Parish. The coordinator’s primary responsibility is to develop, communicate, and implement a comprehensive strategy to support evangelization, faith formation and the pastoral needs of the culturally diverse and rapidly growing communities of Spanish- speaking Catholics at St. Joseph Parish. In addition, the coordinator ensures that Hispanic ministry is carried out in close collaboration with all other areas of ministry at St. Joseph Parish. Such mission-focused Hispanic ministry includes supporting: effective evangelization, compelling faith formation, comprehensive pastoral care, and in all things, well-discerned enculturation that fosters unity in diversity. The coordinator serves as a liaison between the Hispanic community and the Director of Intercultural Ministry, keeping them informed on key issues, concerns, and trends affecting Hispanic Catholics and those they seek to evangelize and serve.
Job Responsibilities
• Develops, communicates, implements, and oversees comprehensive strategy to evangelize and provide pastoral care to culturally diverse and rapidly growing communities of Spanish speaking Catholics in the parish of St. Joseph, Manchester, Missouri
• Provides leadership training and support for development of compelling pastoral and catechetical formation for Hispanic community.
• Recruits and guides catechists for catechism and sacramental formation for children and adults
• Coordinate the established Hispanic Groups; provide support and communication in funding and scheduling.
• Convenes and coordinates with Hispanic Leadership Group: ‘Mesa Directiva’ on regular basis.
• In collaboration with the priest or Pastoral Coordinator recruit coordinators for all the Hispanic ministries.
• In collaboration with the Pastoral Coordinator and/or Priest(s), provide ministry training, to meet the pastoral needs of the Hispanic Community and assist in their continued formation; ensure that all Hispanic parish programs are in harmony with current archdiocesan and parish guidelines.
• Serve as the lead coordinator to organize and facilitate all Hispanic Religious and Cultural Celebrations (Señor de Los Milagros, Our Lady of Providence, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Las Posadas, and others).
• Collaborates with parish director of communications on communications, Mass announcements, parish website, social media, bulletins, and newsletters.
• Approve all Hispanic ministry requests for facility scheduling before entry into the parish calendar.
• Meet regularly with supervisor; attend staff meetings (TBD).
• Acts as a liaison between the Hispanic community and Pastoral Coordinator and pastoral staff.
• Be available to be present at all Hispanic liturgies (Sundays1PM, holy days & special celebrations)
• Schedule and Coordinate Parish Quinceañera’s for the Hispanic Community.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements
• Active, practicing Roman Catholic with an appreciation for our mission and philosophy as a Catholic parish in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
• Fluent in Spanish and English. Proficient in Spanish reading and writing
• Ability to be approachable and congenial.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, and social media platforms
• Ability to work to work on Sundays.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends in accordance with the demands of the position.
• Experience in administering a database.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with volunteer leadership, parish staff and parishioners.
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive or controversial subjects with tact, kindness, and professionalism.
