Job Summary

The 1st and 2nd Grade Teacher is responsible for creating a faith-filled, nurturing, and academically enriching classroom environment. The teacher will plan and deliver instruction in all core subject areas while modeling and integrating Catholic values and teachings into the daily life of the classroom. This role supports the mission of Catholic education by helping students grow spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver daily instruction in religion, reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.

  • Incorporate Catholic teachings, Gospel values, and prayer into daily lessons and classroom routines.

  • Create a developmentally appropriate, engaging, and differentiated learning environment to meet diverse student needs.

  • Foster a classroom culture of respect, responsibility, and reverence consistent with Catholic values.

  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments and adjust instruction accordingly.

  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and behavior.

  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.

  • Supervise students during lunch, recess, Mass, and other school activities.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and support staff to ensure student success and spiritual formation.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field required.

  • Valid teaching certification (state and/or diocesan) required or in progress.

  • Prior teaching experience preferred, especially in primary grades.

  • Practicing Catholic strongly preferred; must be committed to the mission and values of Catholic education.

  • Excellent classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to integrate technology and hands-on learning into instruction.
