Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and mission-driven Bookkeeper to support the financial operations of our parish and school. Working closely with the Pastor, Parish Finance Committee, and Office Manager, this role is responsible for managing daily accounting activities with a focus on accounts payable, vendor management, credit card and cash disbursements, and monthly reconciliations. The ideal candidate will bring a spirit of continuous improvement, a strong understanding of internal controls, and a collaborative mindset.

Job Responsibilities
- Process weekly accounts payable and vendor payments accurately and efficiently using QuickBooks.
- Process bi-weekly payroll per the Archdiocesan schedule.
- Maintain up-to-date vendor records and manage payment approvals in coordination with the Office Manager, Principal, and Pastor.
- Prepare monthly accounts payable, aging reports, and record relevant Archdiocesan assessments and purchases.
- Support month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of credit card and bank accounts.
- Generate monthly and year-to-date fund balance reports; assist with ad hoc reporting and financial analysis as needed.
- Contribute to the preparation of annual budgets for the parish, school, and parish organizations.
- Collaborate with the Pastor and the Finance Committee to ensure financial operations align with the parish’s mission and values.
- Maintain the employee and volunteer compliance, Prevent and Protect per the Archdiocesan guidelines.
Job Requirements
- A practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church, or someone who demonstrates a deep understanding of and respect for Catholic teachings and values.
- Bachelor’s degree in Bookkeeping or Accounting.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant bookkeeping experience
- Solid understanding of internal controls, especially related to cash handling and financial safeguarding.
- Highly organized with strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with Servant Keeper (parish software) helpful.
- Creative and efficiency-oriented; eager to explore innovative solutions to improve processes.
