Job Summary

Assumption Church in O’Fallon is looking for a part-time cantor to provide music for 2-4 Sunday Masses a month and at select liturgies throughout the year.

Job Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the cantor include the following:

· Lead the congregation in singing hymns and Mass parts

· Sing occasional solo repertoire during offertory or communion at select Masses

· Arrive 60 minutes prior to Mass to prepare and rehearse with the accompanist

· Attend Thursday night rehearsals if needed

· Sing at weddings and funerals upon request

· Communicate with Music Director and the parish’s other cantors to coordinate scheduling

Job Requirements

The following attributes are required for the position:

· Proper instruction/training in singing; Cantors are required to be vocally trained

· Familiarity with the Catholic Mass and Catholic musical heritage

· The ability to lead the congregation in song

· Applicants are required to audition for the position

The payment for weekend Masses is $75 per Mass. Payment for weddings and funerals will be negotiated.
