Job Summary
The Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining the physical condition and appearance of the church buildings, grounds, and related parish facilities. This position requires general handyman skills, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and custodial work. The worker must uphold the dignity of the Church environment and support the mission and values of the Catholic faith.
Job Responsibilities

Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance of church buildings, rectory, parish hall, classrooms, and grounds.

Handle repairs involving basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC systems.

Ensure cleanliness and safety of all parish facilities, including floors, restrooms, and gathering spaces.

Set up for liturgical and parish events (e.g., moving chairs/tables, arranging seating, setting up sound equipment).

Maintain exterior grounds, including landscaping, leaf and snow removal, and parking lot upkeep.

Ensure compliance with safety, health, and fire code regulations.

Monitor and manage supplies and inventory for maintenance and custodial work.

Assist with security of church property by securing doors, checking lighting, and reporting any suspicious activity.

Coordinate with contractors and service providers as needed.

Respond to emergency maintenance situations after hours, if required.

Maintain confidentiality and discretion in a parish setting.
Job Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities, or a related field.

Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physical labor.

Dependable, self-motivated, and organized.

Ability to work respectfully in a Catholic Church environment and interact with clergy, staff, and parishioners.
