Job Summary
The Art Teacher at a Catholic school is responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive art education program that fosters creativity, artistic skills, and appreciation for visual arts in students. The teacher is expected to create a positive, engaging, and faith-aligned learning environment that reflects the mission and values of the Catholic Church.
Job Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver standards-based art lessons that incorporate a variety of media, techniques, and styles appropriate for student grade levels.

Encourage creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking through individual and group art projects.

Integrate Catholic values, Church teachings, and liturgical themes into lessons when appropriate (e.g., creating art for feast days, Advent, Lent, or parish events).

Organize and display student artwork throughout the school and at events such as art fairs, open houses, or parish exhibitions.

Maintain an organized, safe, and welcoming classroom environment that supports artistic exploration and respect for materials and peers.

Assess student progress regularly, maintain accurate records, and provide constructive feedback.

Collaborate with faculty, administration, and parish staff to support school-wide initiatives and liturgical celebrations.

Maintain inventory of art supplies and manage the art department budget efficiently.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, parent conferences, and school events.

Support the Catholic identity of the school by modeling Christian values and integrating prayer and faith-based perspectives in classroom practice.
Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field

Valid teaching certification (state and/or diocesan) in Art Education or related area.

Prior teaching experience in art education, preferably in a Catholic or private school setting.

Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.

Knowledge of a wide range of artistic techniques and media, including digital art (if applicable).

Practicing Catholic preferred; non-Catholics must be supportive of Catholic teachings and the mission of Catholic education.
