Job Summary
St Peter Parish (St. Charles, MO), is seeking a Cantor for weddings and funerals. This is an on call, as needed position.
Job Responsibilities
Role includes, though not limited to:
• Availability for weekend and weekday weddings and funerals.
• Knowledge of Catholic wedding masses and funerals
• Knowledge of common songs for weddings and funerals, or the ability to learn them quickly
• Ability to work with different accompanists
• Experience as a cantor at Catholic masses a plus
• Ability to read music a plus
• Rehearsal time will be required.
• Understanding of acoustics as pertaining to the space(s) in which the parish worships
• Understanding of various musical elements used with liturgies (e.g. litanies, acclamations, psalmody, and contemporary song forms and styles)
Job Requirements

Practicing Catholic with a strong commitment to the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church

Pleasant, confident singing voice with good pitch, diction, and musical sensitivity

Ability to lead congregational singing clearly and reverently

Willingness to learn and follow liturgical norms and directives of the parish and Church

Completion of Safe Environment Training and background check (per diocesan requirements)
