Job Summary

The Cafeteria Manager oversees the daily operations of the school cafeteria, ensuring nutritious, safe, and efficient meal service for students and staff in accordance with local health regulations and Catholic values. The manager is responsible for food preparation, menu planning (when applicable), inventory, compliance, and the supervision of cafeteria staff.

Job Responsibilities

Operations & Food Service:

  • Supervise the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals that are healthy, appealing, and compliant with dietary guidelines.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and dining area, following all sanitation and food safety standards.

  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of food items.

Staff Supervision:

  • Lead, schedule, and support cafeteria staff and volunteers.

  • Train team members in food safety, cleanliness, and service standards.

  • Promote a positive, respectful workplace consistent with the values of the Catholic school environment.

Menu Planning & Compliance:

  • Plan menus in accordance with nutrition guidelines and school/district requirements (including USDA regulations if participating in a National School Lunch Program).

  • Accommodate student allergies and dietary restrictions with care and sensitivity.

  • Maintain accurate production records, meal counts, and reports as required by the school and regulatory bodies.

Job Requirements

  • Prior experience in a school or institutional food service setting preferred.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Support for the Catholic mission and values of the school.
