Job Summary

The teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in English Language Arts for students in Grades 3–5 while serving as the 4th Grade Homeroom teacher. The role includes integrating Catholic teachings into daily instruction, maintaining a nurturing and structured classroom environment, and supporting the academic, spiritual, and social development of students.

Job Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum

  • Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate ELA instruction aligned with diocesan, state, and national standards for Grades 3–5

  • Teach reading, writing, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary using best instructional practices

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students

  • Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments and adjust instruction accordingly

  • Integrate technology and literacy resources to enhance learning

Homeroom Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary homeroom teacher for 4th grade students

  • Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and faith-filled classroom environment

  • Oversee daily routines including attendance, morning prayer, announcements, and student organization

  • Support students’ social-emotional growth and promote responsibility and self-discipline

Faith Integration

  • Integrate Catholic values and teachings into the curriculum and classroom activities

  • Lead students in daily prayer and participate in school liturgies, Masses, and religious activities

  • Uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations

  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to enhance student learning

  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (required)

  • Valid teaching certification or eligibility per diocesan/state requirements

  • Experience teaching elementary ELA preferred

  • Practicing Catholic preferred (or willingness to support and uphold Catholic teachings)

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
