Job Summary

The Extended Care Aide provides supervision, support, and care to students during before- and/or after-school programs. Working under the direction of the Extended Care Coordinator or School Administrator, the aide ensures a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where students can relax, complete homework, and participate in structured activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise students in the extended care program, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

  • Assist with homework, reading, or educational games as needed.

  • Lead or support indoor and outdoor recreational activities, arts and crafts, or quiet time.

  • Promote positive behavior and help resolve minor student conflicts using school-approved strategies.

  • Ensure accurate check-in and check-out procedures with parents or guardians.

  • Provide basic first aid when necessary and report any incidents or concerns to the program supervisor.

  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.

  • Support students with special needs as required, following established care plans.

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with staff, students, and families.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience working with children in an educational, recreational, or care setting.

  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Patience, reliability, and strong communication skills.

  • Ability to supervise and engage children of various ages (typically K–8).
