Job Summary
The Extended Care Aide supports the mission of St Gerard Majella, a Catholic elementary/middle school, by providing a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled environment for students during before- or after-school care. This position assists with the supervision of students, helps implement enrichment and recreational activities, and ensures a positive and respectful atmosphere consistent with the values of the Catholic Church.
Job Responsibilities

Supervise and ensure the safety of students in the Extended Care program.

Assist with check-in/check-out procedures and maintain accurate attendance records.

Provide age-appropriate activities including games, homework help, arts & crafts, and outdoor play.

Maintain a clean and organized environment in shared program spaces.

Promote respectful behavior and reinforce school expectations for conduct.

Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students in a manner consistent with Catholic values.

Report concerns about student behavior or safety to the Extended Care Director or Principal.

Participate in training, staff meetings, and required school events as directed.

Support the Catholic identity and mission of the school.
Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in education, child development, or related field preferred.

Experience working with children in a school, camp, daycare, or church setting.

Must be at least 18 years of age (21 preferred).

Ability to manage groups of children with patience, consistency, and kindness.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Must pass background checks and complete Safe Environment Training as required by the Diocese.

CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
