Job Summary
The Accounting Assistant will work closely with the Accountant to provide exception service to our parishes. The Accounting Assistant is responsible for processing the daily accounting activity in QuickBooks for assigned parishes. Accounting functions would include: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash receipts, credit card reconciliations and certain bank account reconciliations. In addition to these tasks, this individual will perform certain tasks in Excel, Word and QuickBooks as directed by the Accounting Manager.
Job Responsibilities
- Organize workload to meet parish deadlines
- Accurately process accounts payables and cash receipts for assigned parishes
- Accurately process the posting of accounts receivable payments to customer records
- Maintain accurate records on behalf of parishes, either digitally or in paper
- Assist in certain data entry and account reconciliations as assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Travel expectations will be minimal.
Job Requirements
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Internet and e-mail
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks
- Ability to process work load in a timely and efficient manner
- Ability to maintain an organized filing system for the office
- Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy on entries
- Sensitive to the pastoral mission of the Catholic Church
- Willing to participate in continuing education in accounting and computer skills
