Job Summary

Sts. Peter and Paul Church - Administrative Assistant               

Part Time (Tuesday and Thursday, 9am – 4pm)

Sts. Peter and Paul Church in the Soulard Neighborhood of St. Louis is seeking a part time administrative assistant who would collaborate with the Pastor and the current Administrative Assistant.  Expectations would include performing general receptionist and secretarial functions as well as some grant writing to support the men’s transitional shelter located at the church.

Job Responsibilities

  • Answer phone and door, greet all warmly and record accurate messages or handle the business as needed.
  • Sell bus passes and keep accurate records.  Prepare the forms for Metro and request the payments needed.
  • Check and answer emails as necessary.
  • Create Mass intention sheet and post appropriately.
  • Assist in maintaining parish records regarding parishioners.
  • Maintains OSV envelope listing for monthly submission.
  • Prepare and send monthly update list for the St. Louis Review.
  • Assist with the annual ACA collection.
  • Research, prepare and submit grant applications to support the men’s shelter.  Follow up with contacts and send thank you letters and reports to donors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Knowledge & Experience Requirements

  • Must be computer literate and have experience using Microsoft Office applications. (Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.)
  • Must have proficient typing skills.
  • Knowledge of Citrix, Servant Keeper, and Parish Helper preferred.
  • Experience in grant writing or willingness to learn is necessary.

  • Should have a general knowledge and support of the Catholic Church, Catholic sacraments, and Catholic liturgy.
  • Must be friendly with a welcoming attitude.
  • Must have ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Should be highly self-directed with attention to detail.

Relationship Requirements

  • Should be willing to work collaboratively with the other administrative assistant and the pastor.
  • Needs to be able to meet all who come with warmth and respect.
