Job Summary
Holy Cross Academy - Early Education Learning Consultant
Summary: Candidates should have knowledge of the principles of child growth and development to work with children and communicate with families. Teachers will be expected to implement a child-centered daily routine, curriculum and a learning environment that encourages the development of age-appropriate positive social interactions, active exploration/ engagement in learning, and self-motivation (curiosity) to promote development in all domains for children of all abilities.
Job Responsibilities
- Understand development milestones for children 24-60 months and create play experiences to encourage language skills, friendships, fine motor development and individual growth.
- Understands the development of self-regulation in children 24-60 months as well as age-appropriate expectations for peer interactions.
- Creates a nurturing, responsive environment that promotes positive and the development of social and emotional competencies.
- Observes closely and with understanding to determine possible causes of challenging behavior, implementing preventive measures, teaching children new social and communication skills in partnership with families.
- Creates partnerships with families to establish positive interaction patterns in program, school, and home.
- Assists classroom teachers with modifications to classroom environment
- Helps students transition throughout the day and around the building
- Create learning and behavior plans to address students needs: social-emotional, fine motor, academics
- Meet with outside therapist and SSD staff to help facilitate learning while in a school setting
- Create resources for classroom teachers
- Help with professional development opportunities for staff members
Job Requirements
- Ability to navigate multiple stairs and playground surfaces
- Sit on floor and smaller chairs to work with children
- Ability to lift 40 lbs on a daily basis
- Complete Protecting God's Children training and background check
