Job Summary
The mission of the Office of Youth Ministry is to equip leaders with the necessary tools, training, formation and events in order that all young people hear the Gospel message and be empowered to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our parishes and in our world.
The Coordinator of Parish Outreach is a key member of the Office of Youth Ministry (OYM) team, collaborating closely with fellow staff to support youth ministry efforts across the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Together, the OYM team equips priests, youth ministers, and parish leaders with the tools, training, formation, and resources needed to effectively share the Gospel and empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ. As the team leader for vicariate relations, this position dedicates approximately three days a week to on-site work in vicariate offices or parishes, building collaborative relationships, improving communication, assessing needs, and offering direct support. Additionally, the Coordinator of Parish Outreach helps plan and execute OYM events, taking a lead role in select gatherings, retreats, and training opportunities that further the mission of the OYM.

Job Responsibilities
The primary role of the Coordinator of Parish Outreach is to support parish leaders in developing effective youth ministry efforts across the Archdiocese by assessing needs through direct consultation and providing tailored responses via tools, training, formation, or events, while collaborating with vicariates to strengthen connections to youth ministry.
- Equipping Leaders & Supporting Vicariates: Assess the unique needs of each vicariate, building strong relationships with pastors, priests, youth ministers, and parish leaders. Provide ongoing consultation and guidance, offering insights and resources to strengthen and enhance youth ministry efforts.
- Youth Ministry Hiring & Onboarding: Assist parishes in recruiting, onboarding, and forming youth ministry staff committed to the Gospel mission.
- Communication & Database Management: Develop and execute a strategic communication plan, managing newsletters, social media, and databases to keep ministry stakeholders informed about resources, opportunities, and events while supporting effective outreach.
- Leader and Team Formation: Coordinate tasks for training, retreats, and gatherings. Facilitate events individually and in collaboration with OYM staff to equip youth ministry leaders and foster collaboration among teams and parishes.
- Collaboration & Resource Development: Work with the OYM team to plan and execute events (e.g., Steubenville, Summit, Training Day, Gatherings) for 25 to 5,000 participants. Assist in creating resources, tools, and customized training for youth ministries, parishes, and vicariates based on assessed needs.
- Project Management: Lead and support project teams to develop programs and resources that address youth ministry needs, empowering leaders and young people alike.
- Vicariate Liaison & Support: Maintain ongoing relationships with vicariate office staff and ministry leaders, serving as a communication channel between the vicariate and OYM. Informing and aligning OYM tools, trainings, and events with the Vicar’s strategic plan.
Job Requirements
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
- This individual must have completed a bachelor’s degree. The following areas of study are preferred; theology, youth ministry, event planning and/or education
- At least five years of parish youth ministry experience.
- A strong working knowledge of basic PC skills and “Microsoft Office” programs
- Strong communication, administrative and organizational skills and be able to demonstrate their ability to work as a part of the team, collaborating on all events and outreach from the OYM.

- Have a heart for youth, be independent, self-motivated, hard-working and trustworthy.
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills. Be self-motivated and a good steward of Archdiocesan resources.
- Have foresight and the initiative necessary for effectively planning events well in advance of the event date.
- Must be able to multi-task while maintaining a focus on details.
- Poised to supervise others and mobilize interns and volunteers.
- Be able to handle occasional times of long hours/high pressure leading up to and during events. Travel will be required for certain events.
- Must be willing to travel, especially to a variety of venues including parishes, schools, and youth ministry events.
Relationship Requirements
The Parish Outreach Coordinator must be comfortable with frequent communication with youth ministers, campus ministers, pastors, scout leaders, volunteers, youth, and other parish and vicariate personnel. This individual must be willing to work in the team dynamic of the Office of Youth Ministry staff.
