Job Summary

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and order of all assigned facilities to ensure a welcoming and hygienic environment. The role involves routine cleaning tasks, restocking supplies, and occasional room setups as directed by the Facilities Director. The custodian plays an important role in supporting the smooth operation of daily activities and events by ensuring spaces are consistently clean and well-maintained.

Job Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including restocking supplies (toilet paper, soap, paper towels).

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain all floors throughout the facility, including entryways and hallways.

  • Clean and polish windows, window sills, and other glass surfaces to maintain a bright and clean appearance.

  • Maintain a routine cleaning schedule to ensure all areas are consistently tidy and welcoming.

  • Set up rooms for events, meetings, or activities as requested by the Facilities Director.

  • Empty and properly dispose of trash throughout the building.

  • Assist with seasonal or deep cleaning projects as directed.

  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Facilities Director promptly.

  • Follow all safety and cleaning protocols to maintain a safe and healthy environment.

Job Requirements

  • Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.

  • Ability to work independently and follow cleaning schedules.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

  • Ability to lift and carry cleaning equipment or supplies as necessary.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with the Facilities Director and other staff members.

  • Ability to maintain a respectful and positive attitude in a community-oriented environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to bend, lift, and move objects up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and reach for extended periods during shifts.

  • Must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions (e.g., indoor, climate-controlled spaces).
