Job Summary
The St. Louis Review is seeking a talented and mission-driven journalist (digital content and print design specialist) to join our team. This role collaborates with journalists and editors to maximize audience engagement across digital and print media. The journalist maintains digital media platforms and engages readers to encourage content interaction and listen to the community.
The ideal candidate will possess strong storytelling skills to develop content for websites and social media platforms, as well as design print pages, to enhance audience engagement across all platforms.
Job Responsibilities
Core responsibilities
- Manages content on stlouisreview.com and branded social media accounts
- Collaborates with journalists to identify digital storytelling opportunities
- Designs pages for print editions
- Develops and manages a digital newsletter
- Reports, writes, photographs, and creates videos for stories as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Project Management & Collaboration
- Works collaboratively with the publications and communications teams to maximize audience engagement
- Translates St. Louis Review stories and the mission, vision, and values of the Archdiocese of St. Louis into meaningful digital experiences
- Maintains a digital content publication calendar
- Tracks digital audience statistics to develop engagement improvement plans
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, digital media, visual communications, or a related field
- WordPress CMS content management; back-end development skills are desirable
- Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro
- Command of the English language and the ability to write creatively and concisely
- Social media platforms, including analytics and engagement reporting
- Digital content creation, including photography, video, and interactive media
- Eager to evangelize the Catholic faith and a commitment to upholding and promoting Catholic values and teachings
- Willing to be a member of the United Media Guild, which represents St. Louis Review staff
Physical demands and work environments
- Works primarily in an open office environment. Must be able to perform standard office duties and carry equipment appropriate for reporting, writing, photography, and videography.
