Director of Hispanic Ministry

Job Summary
A full-time position. The director develops, manages and promotes the priorities and goals of the Office of Hispanic Ministry. Major areas of responsibilities include, serving as the Hispanic ministry liaison to the Western and Southern vicariates; managing Hispanic faith formation programs; assisting in the research, development and implementation of evangelization resources and trainings; providing administrative support to the office’s affiliated ethnic ministries (e.g., Filipino, Brazilian communities). The director provides regular outreach, resources and support to our parishes with Hispanic ministry and maintains our office data updated and our communication current and consistent. The position requires excellent oral and written skills in both the Spanish and English language and working skills in technology and social media. The position requires ability to work evening and weekend hours.
Job Responsibilities
Management of Hispanic Faith Formation, Pastoral Leadership and Evangelization Programs (40%):
· Serve as office’s liaison to Western and Southern Vicariates.
· Implement and evaluate all aspects of Hispanic faith formation, pastoral leadership and evangelization programs.
· Provide proactive support to archdiocesan offices and other ecclesial, civic and academic collaborators working with our faith formation and educational programs.
· Attend pastoral parish programs, as needed, to provide direct organizational support.
· Maintain current information and records on all office programs and parish ministry contacts.
· Assist in the development of marketing and promotional materials and serve as Spanish editor for Spanish pastoral publications.
· Provide on-line resources to enhance and complement all aspects of our programs.
· Assist in the development of assessment and evaluation tools for all faith formation and educational programs.
· Ensure that all archdiocesan requirements are met when implementing parish events and programs.
Development of Hispanic Evangelization In-person and online/virtual Resources and Trainings (30%):
· Provide in-person and virtual resources that can assist parishes and the Archdiocese in their respective evangelization efforts (e.g. Spanish retreats, Hispanic popular religious practices, parish-based bible-study groups, etc.).
· Provide resources and best practices to help intercultural parishes come together for liturgical celebrations.
· Provide faith formation resources for family ministry, Pastoral Juvenil (youth and young adult ministry), and Hispanic vocations.
· Provide resources for Hispanic pastoral leadership formation.
· Work collaboratively with other archdiocesan agencies to provide pastoral resources that can assist the Catholic community integrate to life and services of the archdiocese.
· Provide pastoral resources to assist parish leadership and community in their implementation of our Catholic teaching and ministry to immigrant and refugee communities.
· Work collaboratively with Catholic Charities offices to connect the Hispanic community to our social services.
· Work in collaboration with Office of Communications to develop and implement Spanish resources that connect to the Hispanic community.
Support Services of the Office of Hispanic Ministry and Affiliated Ethnic Communities (30%)
· Develop and maintain timely and effective systems of communications with our Hispanic parish leadership (e.g., Hispanic Pastoral Leaders Group, Pastors with Hispanic ministry, and other diocesan clergy and pastoral personnel).
· Serve as primary and direct contact for the office of Hispanic ministry.
· Work with our office volunteers/interns and provide direct support and supervision.
· Provide direct administrative support to our ethnic ministries, e.g. Filipino, Brazilian communities.
· Provide direct pastoral support to our Young Adult Hispanic Ministry-Pastoral Juvenil—Jornadas.
· Provide outreach and support to our parishes on issues related to Hispanic ministry and the Hispanic community.
· Answer phone calls/emails to provide support, references and resources for persons needing assistance with our Hispanic programs and initiatives.
· Maintain database and records for the office (e.g. contact information of collaborators and program participants, etc.)
· Represent the office in parish and diocesan meetings.
· Represent the office at academic, civic and other ecclesial events.
· Represent the office in regional and national Hispanic conferences and meetings.
· Serve as speaker for the Annual Catholic Appeal and provide ongoing support to ACA initiatives.
Job Requirements
- Practicing Catholic with a commitment to Hispanic values, and an understanding of the pastoral needs and gifts of the Hispanic Catholic community.
- Commitment to the pastoral dimensions of Catholic theology, and Hispanic popular religiosity, spirituality and culture.
- Experience in Hispanic ministry and or related pastoral ministry.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks successfully.
- Bilingual: Excellent Spanish/English language proficiency.
- Strong technical/computer and social media skills.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or strong work experience in Hispanic ministry or related fields.
