Mission Statement:
In keeping with the mission of Academic Excellence, Faith Development and Leadership, the Drama Club Moderator will help students explore and express their creative gifts through theater arts, while promoting Christian values, teamwork, and personal growth. The moderator will guide students in producing dramatic works that reflect the values of the Catholic faith, foster community, and build confidence and discipline.
Position Summary:
The Drama Club Moderator oversees all aspects of the school’s Drama Club. This includes planning and supervising meetings, rehearsals, and performances. The moderator encourages student leadership, nurtures artistic talent, and ensures that all productions align with the moral and spiritual standards of Catholic education.
Job Responsibilities
Leadership & Formation:
- Foster a Christ-centered environment that respects the dignity of all participants.
- Serve as a mentor, promoting personal growth, integrity, and teamwork.
- Encourage student creativity within a Catholic framework, selecting plays that are age-appropriate and consistent with Catholic values.
Club Oversight:
- Plan and lead regular Drama Club meetings.
- Organize auditions, cast selection, rehearsals, and performances.
- Promote participation from a diverse group of students across grades and abilities.
Production & Performance:
- Direct or supervise school plays, musicals, or dramatic readings.
- Oversee technical elements: set design, lighting, costumes, props, and sound.
- Coordinate with staff, parent volunteers, and parish or community members as needed.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Manage the club’s budget and fundraising efforts in collaboration with the school administration.
- Maintain accurate schedules, permission slips, and communications with families.
- Ensure compliance with school rules and Safe Environment policies of the diocese.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the theology department, campus ministry, and faculty to ensure performances align with the school’s mission.
- Support interdisciplinary opportunities (e.g., combining drama with music or literature studies).
Job Requirements
- Experience in theater arts, directing, or performing.
- Practicing Catholic or supportive of Catholic teachings and mission.
- Experience working with teens in an educational or youth ministry setting.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends for rehearsals and performances.
