Job Summary

The Football C Team Defensive Coach is responsible for developing and implementing defensive strategies, techniques, and fundamentals for the C Team. This coach works under the direction of the Head Football Coach and in collaboration with other position coaches to ensure consistent program philosophy, player development, and team success. The Defensive Coach will mentor student-athletes, promote sportsmanship, and contribute to a positive and competitive team culture. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, teach, and implement defensive schemes appropriate for the C Team level.

  • Plan and conduct defensive position drills, film sessions, and practice activities to improve player performance.

  • Evaluate players to determine strengths, weaknesses, and potential for advancement within the program.

  • Collaborate with offensive and special teams coaches to ensure coordinated team play.

  • Maintain consistent communication with the Head Coach regarding player progress, team needs, and game planning.

  • Assist in scouting opponents and preparing defensive game plans each week.

  • Emphasize fundamentals such as tackling, pursuit angles, coverage responsibilities, and alignment.

  • Foster a positive learning environment that promotes teamwork, discipline, and respect.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all players during practices and games by enforcing proper techniques and safety standards.

  • Attend all practices, games, meetings, and required program events.

  • Model professionalism, ethical behavior, and leadership for student-athletes.

Job Requirements

  • Previous football coaching experience (preferably at the high school or youth level).

  • Strong knowledge of defensive football strategies, formations, and techniques.

  • Ability to teach, motivate, and communicate effectively with student-athletes.

  • Demonstrated commitment to the development and academic success of players.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a coaching staff.

  • Must pass any required background checks and meet district or school employment requirements.
