Job Summary

St Raphael the Archangel Catholic School a Catholic elementary and middle school serving students in Kindergarten through 8th grade, is seeking qualified Substitute Teachers to support student learning in the absence of regular classroom teachers. The substitute teacher is responsible for maintaining a positive, respectful, and faith-centered classroom environment that reflects the teachings of the Catholic Church and promotes academic excellence. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction using lesson plans and materials provided by the classroom teacher.

  • Maintain classroom routines, rules, and procedures in accordance with school policies.

  • Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, playground, cafeteria, or other assigned areas.

  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and disciplined classroom that supports learning and respects Catholic values.

  • Encourage respectful and responsible student behavior through positive reinforcement and classroom management strategies.

  • Leave clear, written communication for the returning teacher about the day’s progress, issues, or noteworthy events.

  • Support the Catholic identity of the school by participating in prayer, religious activities, and school liturgies when applicable.

  • Follow all school and diocesan policies regarding safety, conduct, and professionalism.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (some dioceses may require a minimum of 60 college credit hours or a bachelor’s degree)

  • Ability to follow lesson plans and manage a classroom effectively

  • Professionalism, flexibility, and dependability

  • Willingness to support the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church

  • Successful completion of diocesan Safe Environment training and background check
