Working collaboratively with individuals, businesses, government and other service providers, St. Patrick Center will end chronic homelessness in the St. Louis region through Housing First, an evidence-based practice that tells us to remove barriers, do intake and assessment early, move people into housing and offer them support to achieve their goals. 

Job Summary

St. Patrick Center, a ministry of Catholic Charities, is currently seeking a Lead Night Assistant to join the Women's Night Program. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the safety and well-being of all clients within the program at St. Patrick Center (SPC). This is a full-time position that entails working evenings and overnights, with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. The hourly wage for this position ranges from $15 to $20

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead Night Assistant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the shelter by leading operations and facilitating the flow of operations. Makes decisions regarding clients while on shift in lieu of the manager afterhours.
  • Provides comfortable and safe environment for shelter residents at night
  • Works with WNP Manager to support client treatment and success
  • Monitors activities of residents and enforces shelter rules and policies at night
  • Serves dinner to shelter residents
  • Keeps nightly log and incident report to inform Manager of significant events
  • Provides crisis intervention and contacts emergency services when necessary
  • Washes linens of vacated beds and monitors personal care items
  • Respects client confidentiality
  • Respects and is responsible for agency policy regarding work hours, building security and all written personnel standards
  • Ensures the trauma-informed care model in all interactions with clients and staff from other St. Patrick Center programs
  • Finds replacement in the event of unexpected absence due to sickness or emergency
  • Attends monthly team meetings with Manager
  • Attends weekly case conference meetings with Manager and Case Managers
  • Communicates with Case Managers
  • Attends appropriate seminars and trainings
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma
  • At least 2 years working in the social service field, preferably with homeless clients
  • Understanding mental illness and substance abuse
  • Familiarity with Trauma-Informed Care and Housing First Model
  • Willingness to learn and gain more experience in above areas
  • Current proof of First Aid training and CPR
  • Current Two-step TB screen before start date

Pre-Employment Screening
