Job Summary

The Middle School ELA Teacher will provide instruction in literature, writing, grammar, and vocabulary aligned with school curriculum standards and infused with Catholic values. The teacher will foster a learning environment that promotes academic excellence, moral development, and spiritual growth, helping students become critical thinkers and faithful communicators.

Job Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging ELA lessons that meet diocesan standards and the needs of diverse learners

  • Teach reading comprehension, literary analysis, writing process, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary

  • Integrate Catholic values and worldview into literature discussions and writing topics

  • Incorporate technology, cooperative learning, and differentiated instruction

Assessment & Feedback

  • Design and administer assessments to monitor student progress and mastery of standards

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback on written and oral assignments

  • Maintain accurate records and report grades in accordance with school policy

Classroom Management

  • Create a safe, respectful, and faith-filled classroom environment

  • Establish clear expectations for behavior and foster student responsibility

  • Use positive discipline consistent with Catholic values

Faith Formation

  • Model Christian behavior and support the school’s Catholic mission

  • Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and religious events

  • Collaborate with the religion teacher to integrate faith across the curriculum

Professional Responsibilities

  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and guardians

  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development, and school events

  • Collaborate with colleagues in team planning and curriculum alignment

  • Uphold all diocesan, school, and state regulations, including child protection policies

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field

  • Valid state teaching certification or eligibility to obtain one

  • Passion for teaching middle school students and a commitment to Catholic education

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing who supports the mission of the Church (preferred for religion instruction or theology integration)
