Job Summary:
St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School, a faith-centered and academically strong community within the Archdiocese of St. Louis, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher for grades 6–8. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of reading and writing, create a dynamic classroom culture rooted in Catholic values, and engage students in meaningful, standards-based instruction.
Job Responsibilities

Teach ELA curriculum to students in grades 6–8, including reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and literary analysis.

Plan and implement engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with Archdiocesan and state standards.

Foster a classroom environment that supports academic growth, mutual respect, and a love for learning.

Establish a culture for learning by setting clear expectations and maintaining consistent classroom routines.

Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment.

Encourage spiritual development by integrating Catholic teachings and values into classroom practices and promoting a prayerful atmosphere.

Assess and monitor student progress regularly using both formative and summative assessments.

Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance, attendance, and communication.

Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues regarding student growth and classroom activities.

Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and faith formation activities.
Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Education or English; Master’s degree preferred.

Current Missouri teaching certification or eligibility to obtain certification.

Previous experience teaching middle school ELA preferred.

Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Commitment to Catholic education and the mission of forming students in faith and academics.

Completion of or willingness to complete Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment requirements.
