Job Summary

Preschool Teacher - Christ the King School

Candidates should have knowledge of the principles of child growth and development to work with children and communicate daily with families.  Teachers will be expected to implement a child-centered daily routine, curriculum and a learning environment that encourages the development of age-appropriate positive social interactions, active exploration/ engagement in learning, and self-motivation (curiosity) to promote development in all domains for children of all abilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Understand development milestones for children 3-4 years old and create play experiences to encourage language skills, friendships, fine motor development and individual growth. 
  • Understands the development of self-regulation in children 3-4 years old as well as age-appropriate expectations for peer interactions. 
  • Creates a nurturing, responsive environment that promotes positive and the development of social and emotional competencies. 
  • Observes closely and with understanding to determine possible causes of challenging behavior, implementing preventive measures, teaching children new social and communication skills in partnership with families. 
  • Creates partnerships with families to establish positive interaction patterns in program, school, and home. 
  • Introduces Bible stories, Catholic teachings, Advent and Lent and creates a faith filled classroom.
  • Create potty training goals and help students during diaper changes and potty training
  • Communicate with parents daily and send weekly newsletter 

Job Requirements

 

  • Ability to navigate multiple stairs and playground surfaces
  • Sit on floor and smaller chairs to work with children
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs on a daily basis
  • Complete Protecting God's Children training and background check
