Job Summary

The PSR Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the Parish School of Religion program for children who do not attend Catholic schools. This individual fosters the faith development of students and families, ensures catechist formation, and maintains alignment with diocesan guidelines and the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Job Responsibilities


  • Program Oversight

    • Organize and manage all aspects of the PSR program, including calendar, curriculum, classroom logistics, and materials.

    • Ensure the program meets diocesan and parish standards for religious education and sacramental preparation.

  • Catechist Management

    • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer catechists and aides.

    • Provide ongoing support, formation, and spiritual enrichment opportunities for catechists.

  • Sacramental Preparation

    • Coordinate preparation for First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation (as applicable).

    • Collaborate with clergy, staff, and families for liturgical celebrations and parent meetings.

  • Communication & Administration

    • Maintain accurate records for student registration, attendance, and sacramental milestones.

    • Communicate regularly with families via newsletters, email, or parish bulletins.

    • Monitor and manage the PSR budget in coordination with parish administration.

  • Faith Leadership

    • Provide a welcoming, Christ-centered environment for children and families.

    • Incorporate prayer, liturgy, and service into the PSR experience.

    • Be a visible and active participant in parish life and liturgical celebrations.

Job Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing, committed to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church.

  • Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Education, or a related field (preferred); equivalent experience considered.

  • Previous experience in parish ministry, religious education, or catechesis.

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Ability to recruit, manage, and motivate volunteers.

  • Familiarity with diocesan guidelines and catechetical resources.

  • Completion of Safe Environment Training and background check required.
