Job Summary

The Pastoral Ministry Associate is a part-time, mission-aligned role supporting the Director of Pastoral Ministry in advancing evangelization and pastoral efforts across the Southern Vicariate. This individual will assist with developing and implementing formation opportunities, supporting parish leaders and teams, and coordinating events and communications. While initially part-time, the position has the potential to expand to full-time based on evolving pastoral needs.

Job Responsibilities

Evangelization & Pastoral Support

  • Partner with the Director of Pastoral Ministry to strengthen evangelization programming across 32 parishes in the Southern Vicariate.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with pastors, parish staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers.
  • Assist with planning, implementation, and follow-up for Vicariate-wide retreats, formation days, prayer events, and other evangelization initiatives.
  • Support the growth and development of parish evangelization and discipleship teams.
  • Contribute to Archdiocesan evangelization initiatives as needed.

Event Coordination & Leadership

  • Manage logistical details for Vicariate events (venues, registration, materials, hospitality).
  • Provide leadership during events, including public speaking and facilitating adult formation experiences.
  • Procure supplies, manage hospitality needs, and assist with setup and breakdown.

Administrative Support

  • Design and coordinate production of flyers, guides, and promotional materials.
  • Manage Director’s calendar, correspondence, and meeting logistics.
  • Maintain accurate records for events, registrations, and Vicariate office operations.
  • Assist with communications, including Curia Connections, Flocknotes, and other ministry outreach.
  • Support volunteer coordination and petty cash handling as applicable.
  • Attend staff and Archdiocesan meetings as requested.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministry, theology, religious education, or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in parish, diocesan, or Catholic ministry setting strongly preferred.

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing, with a demonstrated commitment to the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church, as this position is ministerial in nature and integral to the religious mission of the Archdiocese.
  • Strong personal commitment to evangelization, discipleship, and parish renewal.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and written communication.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute multiple programs or events simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with clergy, staff, and volunteers.
  • High level of initiative, creativity, and pastoral sensitivity.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and adaptable to new technologies; graphic design or marketing experience is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends in support of ministry programs.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
