Job Summary

Our Lady of Lourdes, a mission-driven elementary school in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, is seeking a dedicated and faith-filled Religion Teacher. The successful candidate will be passionate about Catholic education and committed to nurturing the spiritual and moral development of students in a diverse, urban school setting. The Religion Teacher will lead students in deepening their understanding of the Catholic faith, scripture, sacraments, Church traditions, and moral teachings in accordance with the guidelines of the Archdiocese. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate religion curriculum aligned with Archdiocesan and USCCB standards.

  • Foster a classroom environment that reflects Gospel values and promotes faith, service, and respect.

  • Prepare students for reception of sacraments (if applicable) in coordination with parish staff and administration.

  • Integrate prayer, scripture, and Catholic teachings into daily lessons and classroom culture.

  • Model a personal commitment to the Catholic faith and serve as a spiritual role model for students.

  • Collaborate with school faculty to support school-wide religious events, liturgies, service projects, and retreats.

  • Maintain communication with parents and guardians regarding students’ spiritual and academic growth.

  • Participate in school events, professional development, and ongoing faith formation activities.

Job Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, or a related field; teaching certification preferred.

  • Catechist certification through the Archdiocese of St. Louis or willingness to obtain.

  • Previous experience teaching religion or working in a Catholic school setting is strongly preferred.

  • Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Passion for working with children and helping them grow in faith, character, and academics.

  • Completion of Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment requirements, including background check.
