Job Summary

A Social-Emotional Learning teacher supports students in developing emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and interpersonal skills by delivering targeted SEL curriculum and fostering a safe, inclusive classroom environment. They build strong relationships with students and families, adapt strategies to diverse needs, and collaborate with staff to promote positive behavior, decision-making, and emotional growth.

Job Responsibilities

  • Delivers the curriculum on social-emotional topics and skills
  • Establishes a classroom culture where students feel safe, respected, and encouraged to develop their emotional intelligence.
  • Helps students identify and understand their own emotions, strengths, and areas for growth.
  • Teaches students strategies for managing their emotions, setting goals, and developing self-control.
  • Teaching students how to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and build positive relationships.
  • Guiding students in making thoughtful choices and taking ownership of their actions.
  • Working collaboratively with other staff members and administrators to support students' needs. 

Job Requirements

  • An understanding of SEL principles and practices .
  • Experience in teaching or working with children/adolescents .
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills .
  • Ability to build rapport with students and families .
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment .
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs .
  • Strong organizational and data management skills .
