Job Summary

The Extended Care Supervisor is responsible for the overall coordination, management, and supervision of the school's before- and/or after-school extended care program. This position ensures the program provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment aligned with the school’s mission and values. The Supervisor leads and supports the extended care team, oversees daily operations, implements age-appropriate activities, and maintains clear communication with staff, parents, and school administration.

Job Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership & Oversight

    • Manage the daily operations of the extended care program, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all students.

    • Supervise and support Extended Care Aides and other program staff; provide guidance, scheduling, and feedback.

    • Plan, implement, and oversee age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development.

  • Student Supervision & Engagement

    • Monitor student behavior and well-being; intervene and redirect as necessary in accordance with school policies.

    • Ensure activities and routines are inclusive, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with student needs.

    • Support students with homework, snacks, and personal needs when appropriate.

  • Communication & Collaboration

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents regarding extended care matters.

    • Communicate regularly with school administration to report incidents, attendance, staffing needs, and program updates.

    • Foster positive and respectful relationships with students, families, and staff.

  • Administrative Duties

    • Maintain accurate attendance, incident reports, and student records.

    • Ensure proper sign-in/sign-out procedures and compliance with safety and health protocols.

    • Monitor and manage inventory of supplies and snacks; submit supply requests as needed.

  • Health & Safety

    • Enforce all health, emergency, and safety procedures; serve as lead in emergency situations.

    • Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and security of the extended care space and materials.

    • Provide or coordinate First Aid/CPR in case of student injury or illness.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with children in a school, daycare, camp, or similar environment.

  • Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role strongly preferred.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to lead a team, manage multiple tasks, and remain calm under pressure.

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).

  • Must be dependable, patient, and enthusiastic about working with children.
