Job Summary:

St. Gerard Majella Catholic School, a vibrant and faith-filled parish community in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Preschool Teacher. The ideal candidate will create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children, integrating Catholic values and teachings throughout the curriculum. The Preschool Teacher plays a critical role in fostering the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional growth of students in their earliest years of education.

Job Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities aligned with the Archdiocese of St. Louis Early Childhood Curriculum Standards.

• Foster a classroom environment rooted in Catholic values that promotes curiosity, kindness, respect, and active learning.

• Provide a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment that supports all learners.

• Assess student progress and development regularly; maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents and administration.

• Collaborate with fellow early childhood educators, aides, and school staff to ensure consistency and support across the program.

• Communicate regularly with families through newsletters, conferences, and informal updates.

• Attend school Masses, professional development, staff meetings, and parish/school functions as required.

• Ensure compliance with Archdiocesan, state, and licensing regulations regarding early childhood education and safety.

• Maintain current certification in CPR/First Aid and Safe Environment Program.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.

• Missouri State Teaching Certification (Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education preferred).

• Practicing Catholic preferred; must be willing to support and model Catholic teachings in the classroom.

• Prior experience in early childhood or preschool education strongly preferred.

• Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.

• Ability to build positive relationships with young children, parents, and colleagues.

• Completion and maintenance of compliance with the Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment Program (including Protecting God’s Children training and background screening).
